That’s 1.28 lies per day for 24 months straight!
President George W. Bush and seven of his administration’s top officials, including Vice President Dick Cheney, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, made at least 935 false statements in the two years following September 11, 2001, about the national security threat posed by Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. Nearly five years after the U.S. invasion of Iraq, an exhaustive examination of the record shows that the statements were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses.
On at least 532 separate occasions (in speeches, briefings, interviews, testimony, and the like), Bush and these three key officials, along with Secretary of State Colin Powell, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, and White House press secretaries Ari Fleischer and Scott McClellan, stated unequivocally that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction (or was trying to produce or obtain them), links to Al Qaeda, or both. This concerted effort was the underpinning of the Bush administration’s case for war.

Imagine what America’s legacy will look like in a history book some 500 years hence. I can easily see some golden opening chapters where the dream of a democratic Republic - straight from Greco-Roman ideals - is realized. The nation which began bold and bright - breaking away from the tyranny of the British crown, rising to global dominance, and becoming a leader the rest of the world looked to, then comes to the 21st century:
- The United States defeated Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan, and thwarted the British Empire when they were just scattered colonies in the wilderness. But when faced with cave-dwelling terrorists in the 21st century, they became shrieking cowards who were willing to trade their Constitution, their freedoms, and their souls in exchange for a Nanny State Fatherland.
- The average American had never read the Constitution, so was willing to believe whatever pundits said it said.
- The Founding Fathers called the Constitution the “supreme law of the land” which officials had the duty to “preserve, protect, and defend.”
- George W. called it “just a piece of paper.”
- Liberals attacked conservatives. Conservatives attacked liberals. This passed for lucid and cogent debate.

President Bush last week signed into law a bill which will see the federal government begin to screen the DNA of all newborn babies in the U.S. within six months, a move critics have described as the first step towards the establishment of a national DNA database.
Described as a “national contingency plan” the justification for the new law S. 1858, known as The Newborn Screening Saves Lives Act of 2007, is that it represents preparation for any sort of “public health emergency.”
The bill states that the federal government should “continue to carry out, coordinate, and expand research in newborn screening” and “maintain a central clearinghouse of current information on newborn screening… ensuring that the clearinghouse is available on the Internet and is updated at least quarterly”.
Sections of the bill also make it clear that DNA may be used in genetic experiments and tests.

Who profits from the Iraq war? More than a quarter of senators and congressmen have invested at least $196 million of their own money in companies doing business with the Department of Defense (DoD) that profit from the death and destruction in Iraq.
According to the latest reports, 151 members of Congress invested close to a quarter-billion in companies that received defense contracts of at least $5 million in 2006. These companies got more than $275.6 billion from the government in 2006, or $755 million per day, according to FedSpending.org, a website of the watchdog group OMBWatch.

White House Spokesliar Dana Perino is at it again. Remember when President Bush was playing dress up, wearing a flight suit on the deck of the aircraft carrier, like he just landed an F-14?

Just before he stood in front of a 80 foot banner saying “Mission Accomplished“

Standing in front of that banner, The Dry Drunk Bush goes on to say “In this battle, we have fought for the cause of liberty, and for the peace of the world. Our nation and our coalition are proud of this ACCOMPLISHMENT — yet it is you, the members of the United States military, who achieved it.” He then ties 9/11 to Iraq by saying: “The Battle of Iraq is one victory in a war on terror that began on September the 11th, 2001.”
Watch the Clip below to see White House Spokesliar Dana Perino say that “Mission Accomplished” had nothing to do with Iraq and only signified the single mission of the carrier Bush was giving the speech on. She then says that the president “never actually said ‘Mission Accomplished’ in his speech.”
Are you fucking kidding me? “Mission Accomplished” meant the specific mission that the ship was on? And although Dickwad stood in front of the big ass sign, while saying that major combat operations in Iraq are over, and making NO mention of the ship whatsoever, that sign didn’t mean what we thought it did. WTF? Am I the only one in this country who didn’t drink the kool-aid?

Thanx George. I’m sure your $150 billion “stimulus package” will help the economy, especially since everything is made in China or India or Honduras now. So when the American people spend that money, where is it going? To an American worker, or straight into the Corporate coffers of companies who are receiving ridiculous tax breaks and subsidies, enjoying record profits while moving jobs overseas exploiting foreign workers by paying them peanuts.
On second thought, we are borrowing this $150 billion, most of it from China (check their balance). So basically, foreign creditors are lending us money for tax rebates, so we can in turn spend that money on foreign goods! That’s like me loaning you $400 to buy an ounce of good off me. Not only do you now owe me $400 (with interest), I also made a profit off the ounce cuzz you spent the money back with me…..It’s a cold game.
The Huffington Post reports:
At a cost of nearly $42 million, the IRS wants you to know: Your check is almost in the mail. The Internal Revenue Service is spending the money on letters to alert taxpayers to expect rebate checks as part of the economic stimulus plan.

Verizon is sharing your information……”including the quantity, technical configuration, type, destination, location, and amount of use of a customer’s telecommunications services purchased (including specific calls a customer makes and receives) and related local and toll billing information.” In other words, who you call, where you travel, how often, on what days, with what other VZW users, what stores you visit, how long, etc. It’s called CPNI or Customer Proprietary Network Information. You were notified either by small ass print on your bill, or a letter you most likely through away.
